Favorites | September and October

October 16, 2018 Leave a Comment

How in the world are we halfway through October?! That realization just hit me this morning and I began freaking out! Time and to do lists are getting away from me and I hate that feeling! However, today (Sunday) I’m trying to catch up on a lot of things and get some serious work done. That work includes bringing you a list of my favorite things from September (and some of October). Once I get my head on straight, I’ll be bringing you this list of items at the beginning of each month. I hope you enjoy and find a few things that you’ll want to add to your list of favorite things. (Please note: this post contains Amazon affiliate links.)

Democracy Women’s Absolution Jeggings – Dark Indigo

I first found out about these jeggings from a Gwynnie Bee box. (I’m currently in the middle of a one month free trial with that subscription box.) For someone who is pretty curvy in the hip and booty area, it’s important to me to have pants that are comfortable and make everything look good. These are legit the most comfortable pants I’ve ever worn! They’re more comfortable than any work out pants or leggings that I have. They fit so well and make everything look incredible! As soon as I tried them on, I purchased them from Gwynnie Bee and hopped on Amazon to see if I could get about 10 more pairs. I HIGHLY recommend these pants!

Vera Bradley Weekender

I have been in desperate need of a reliable, convenient, and super cute personal item for when I travel on airplanes. I usually use my bookbag or my large Vera Bradley tote bag. However, back in September, my sister-in-law and I took a trip to the Vera Bradley outlet and I found the perfect personal item! It’s their Weekender bag. It’s HUGE, but small enough to be able to count as a personal item and can fit under the airplane seat in front of you. It can fit all of the stuff that I need in a personal item – phone, charger, wallet, keys, snacks, etc. – and fit the stuff that doesn’t fit in my carry on luggage. It also has a strap on the back that fits perfectly on your carry on luggage, so you’re not trying to balance multiple bags.

Living Proof products

I have jumped on the Living Proof bandwagon – thanks a lot, Sephora. But Y’ALL. Their dry shampoo has saved my life! I have super dry, frizzy, wavy hair. I shouldn’t be washing my hair a lot, but I need to look (and smell) fresh. Enter Living Proof, my new favorite thing in the world. I recently started using their no-frizz shampoo, conditioner, and styling cream as well and it’s like I have new hair! It’s so soft and manageable and CLEAN. I will save all of my extra pennies for Living Proof. It’s definitely pricer than what you would pick up at the grocery store, but SO WORTH IT. Just go buy it all and take pictures of your fantastic, healthy, gorgeous hair.

Days of the New (self titled album)

Since I’m still new to the blogging business, I guess that y’all don’t know that I’m stuck in 1997. Yeah, it’s true. I should have been born in 1982 instead of 1992 because I have the music taste of a 15 year old emotional teenager living in 1997. I honestly don’t listen to any music that was made after 2005 (except I’ll always listen to the newest Foo Fighters album, even if it doesn’t come anywhere close to the perfection that is their self titled album). Anyway, my obsession over the last few weeks has been Days of the New’s self titled album from 1997. It’s been on repeat in my car, at work, while I’m taking a shower, and anywhere else. Now, I’m not a music blogger. I cannot give a beautiful description of music that will make it seem as if you’re sitting right in front of the musician that is strumming on their guitar. But I can tell you that I love 90’s rock music, so if you do too, go check out this album! Favorites from this album: Shelf in the Room, Where I Stand, Freak.

Macbook Air

Yep, I joined the Macbook family… FINALLY! I’ve had an iMac for about a year. It’s wonderful! But since starting the blog (and going back to the 8am-5pm work life), I’ve been taking my PC laptop with me to work and using my down time after work to work on the blog. However, that PC laptop is super heavy (and a little slow), so Jimmy found me a certified pre-owned MacBook Air on Amazon. (Thank you, Jimmy!) You would never know that it’s pre-owned! It’s in incredible condition, is very lightweight, super fast, and helps me to write down my ideas as soon as I think of them, even if I’m in the middle of walking a half mile to my parking garage. (#DowntownJobLife) I also picked up a few accessories for it – cover, laptop sleeve – but am currently on the hunt for cute stickers! Any suggestions?

Kindle Unlimited

Y’all, if you’re going to be friends with me, you’re going to need to get a Kindle Unlimited subscription because I will be throwing book suggestions at you left and right. (Hint hint to some content coming soon!) If you read as much as I do (at least two books a week), you’re going to love Kindle Unlimited. You can borrow up to 10 books at a time from Amazon for under $10 a month. Now, not every book I read or recommend will be on Kindle Unlimited, but I do check out their list of books at least once a week for new books to read. Even though not every book I read is on Kindle Unlimited, it still pays for itself every single month.

I hope this list of wonderful items helps you to find something you’ve been searching for – a new pair of jeggings to complement your new fall sweater, that will look great with your 4 day old, but super fresh hairstyle, that you can rock while you’re sitting at the coffee shop working on your laptop, listening to great tunes, and taking breaks to read the newest release from your favorite author.

Thank you all so much for reading! Have a super, wonderful day – and Go Penguins!
