Happy Friday, everyone!
It’s day whatever of week who knows of quarantine/self isolation/COVID-19 mania. While I’m a homebody and enjoy working from home (can this last forever?!), I would really love to get on a plane right.
This week in particular has been stressful for me, and I really can’t explain why. There have been a few things this week that have helped brighten my mood, and I wanted to share those with you! I was hoping that I could give you this list in the form of a fun video, but I let stress take over in big ways, and I wasn’t able to make a video for you this week. However, I hope you enjoy reading through this list (and push me into getting over my stress and making a video for next week!).
Now I’d like to share with you my FRIDAY FAVORITES!
I listen to Spittin’ Chiclets every once in a while, usually when there is a guest that I’m interested in. I was excited to see Anaheim Ducks captain, Ryan Getzlaf, show up as the guest for this week’s episode! My visit to Anaheim this season made me a semi-Ducks fan, and I’ve always admired Ryan Getzlaf as a player. I would HIGHLY recommend everyone listen to this episode – it’s hilarious! While I love good interview podcasts, I also really love when a few people just sit down, tell stories, and laugh. That’s exactly what this episode was – everyone sharing stories and laughing. It definitely brightened my spirits on a shitty day, and every time I think about the episode, it makes me laugh!
I wouldn’t normally put myself on my favorites list, but I’m making an exception this week. Fun fact: I have a weird fear of listening to myself on podcasts. I have no idea why, but it’s a thing! This episode has been out for a few weeks, but I finally got the courage to listen to it earlier this week and really, really enjoyed it! You should listen to it if you want to hear my recommendation for the best corn dog in the United States and hear me give some good constructive criticism to the Dallas Stars organization. Also, the podcast is hosted by one of my closest hockey friends, Rae Rae, and my new friend, Breezy, and they’re doing an incredible job with the show!
I know I’m not the only one who has been shopping online like crazy! I’ve gotten a lot of side eye from my husband when mail mountain starts appearing on our doorstep. Just before quarantine, I bought a pair of monogrammed rose gold earrings from CaitlynMinimalist on Etsy (southern, much?) and was blown away by how beautiful they were! A few weeks ago, I started looking around the shop a little more and found city skyline rings that were gorgeous. I took a look at the list and BAM my favorite city in the world was listed! My Pittsburgh skyline ring got here this week, and it’s absolutely perfect – I’ve worn it every single day! The shop has so many cities to choose from and takes requests, so everyone can have their favorite!
If you follow me on Twitter… or Instagram… or if you’ve talked to me in the last few days, you’ll know that I carved out 3 hours in my day to (finally) watch the Pittsburgh is Home documentary about the Pittsburgh Penguins. Y’ALL. To say I’m obsessed is an understatement. To say I cried like a baby is an understatement. To say that I’m 100x more proud and blessed to be a Pittsburgh Penguins fan is an understatement. This documentary was PERFECTION! I learned so much about the team, the city, and the league. I would highly recommend any hockey fan watch it because you will learn a lot about players and coaches that were so important to the sport and to the league, not just to the Penguins. Also, you’ll see some great fashion from Jaromir Jagr, which was one of the best parts!
Yeah, Twitch is one of my favorite things from this week. I love Twitch! I’ve been watching for about a year now, specifically watching people play NHL and play horror video games. I’m a weird person, it’s fine. Twitch has been more popular than usual lately because a lot of people are streaming different stuff to stay entertained during quarantine. I’ve seen DJ’s, talk shows, and, of course, hockey players playing NHL20. I would suggest you jump on there because it’s unique content, there’s something for everyone, and a lot of the streamers on Twitch are working hard to try and raise money for COVID-19 relief. One of my favorite streamers did a charity stream with some of his friends last weekend and they raised over $20,000 for the CDC Foundation!
Those were a few of the things that helped me get through a kind of rough week. I would love it if you would share with me some of your favorite things from this week! I would love to check them out and maybe add them to my list for next week.
